This unique organisation was the brainchild of one man, Noel O’Loughlen from Ballyvaughan in County Clare Ireland.  Deep in the Languedoc at the foothills of the Cevennes Mountains are the villages of St Jean De Serres, Savignargues, Ledignan and St Theodorit. On the slopes around this cluster of villages is the location of the GWP vines. This part of the

Languedoc is steeped in history and has a long tradition of vine growing and making wine. The GWP vineyards are adjacent to the famous wine district of the Pic St Loup & close to the cities of Nimes, Montpellier, Arles and Avignon.  A little further on, you find the southern end of the Cotes Du Rhone, the vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape; beyond Avignon lays the Lavender fields of Provence and south of Arles, the Camargue and finally the Mediterranean Sea.

All the wines Produced by Galway Wine Producers are additive free. No artificial fertilisers or pesticides are used. See our information on the Irish Liquid seaweed which is sprayed on the vines. GWP has already applied for Organic certification and this should be granted within the next 1 – 2 years.

GWP has developed 9 different wines which form the bulk of our sales (300,000 bottles) an equal mix of Red and White wines with a special Rosé blend. All this is driven from a purpose built winery, Domaine D’Espere on the edge of the village of St Jean De Serres.

The twin organisations of Galway Wine Producers and Les Vignerons Irlandais have incorporated additional activities and broadened the appeal of the business to bring on board enthusiastic members who not only enjoy drinking wine but are interested in the process of developing and making original wines for the Irish and UK markets. Over 200 individuals are active in the ‘own a row of vines scheme’ or have extended their interest into owning Olive Trees, participating in organised wine tours/ wine education courses  - Also now it is possible possible to rent 7 luxury holiday apartments in the small village of Canuales just minutes away from our winery and vineyards. With over 40 years experience in promoting French Wines, GWP has established special relationships with small independent producers working in the true tradition of wine making.

Free from additives the wines have been produced & carefully selected for their value for money.

You can now participate in this unique activity either by just buying the excellent and unique wines or if you are adventurous and enjoy the thought of having your own vines we welcome more members; it is entirely up to you whether to buy a single row ( the average row yields around 130 bottles) or buy additional rows.
